Land Stewardship: Wildlife Watch and True Co-Existence in Northern B.C. & Alberta’s Boreal Forest
In the vast boreal forests and remote wildlands of northern B.C. & Alberta, black bears and grizzly bears have roamed for thousands of years. As forestry, energy, mining, and infrastructure projects expand into these shared spaces, the balance between human work and Wildlife is often tested.
At our Wildlife Watch company, land stewardship goes beyond compliance. It’s a daily commitment to preserving the natural rhythms of the boreal ecosystem while protecting the employees who work there every day.
Our Wildlife Watch program is built for northern B.C. & Alberta operations. When companies hire us, our trained professionals provide real-time Wildlife monitoring of bears, cougars, wolves, coyotes and large ungulates (moose, elk, caribou, etc.), non-lethal deterrence when needed, and on-site presence that lets crews focus on their jobs safely.
We don’t just manage bears, cougars etc. — we foster mutual respect between people and all the Wildlife.
-
For employees: We deliver practical, site-specific training on black bear, grizzlies, cougars etc's, behavior, safety protocols, attractant management, and respectful field practices. Workers gain the confidence and knowledge to turn potential encounters into opportunities for awareness and respect.
-
For the bears and boreal Wildlife: Our low-impact approach prevents habituation, helping black bears forage naturally and grizzlies roam without associating humans with food. This protects both the animals and the delicate northern habitat they depend on.
-
This creates genuine co-existence that respects all parties. Bears keep their wild territories and natural behaviors. Employees get the security and education needed to work safely in remote forrested settings, while the land benefits through fewer conflicts and healthier Wildlife corridors.
In a province where grizzly bears are threatened and black bears are vital to the boreal ecosystem, true stewardship means choosing non-lethal, educational solutions that support both economic opportunity and ecological integrity.
We’re proud to partner with forward-thinking companies across northern B.C. & Alberta who value this balance. Protecting your teams while honoring the bears and wildlife inhabitated places you operate in — that’s the heart of Wildlife Watch.
Ready to strengthen land stewardship on your northern B.C. or Alberta site?
Let’s discuss how our Wildlife Watch program can support your crew, the black bears and grizzlies and all Wildlife sharing the boreal forest, and the long-term health of the land.

1
Wildlife Management
We are dedicated to humane, non-lethal approaches for managing bears and other wildlife, with the primary goal of preventing or minimizing interactions between people and animals.
Our experienced On-site Monitors actively guide wildlife away, relocating them to safer, more appropriate areas.
In close partnership with your team, health and safety personnel, and site workers, we take proactive steps to identify and remove attractants or conditions that draw bears and other wildlife into human-occupied zones.

2
Site Inspection & Assessment
OilSlayer—Wildlife Watch provides expert services to identify and mitigate risks from bear and wildlife interactions on your site. Our lead Wildlife Specialists, with in-depth knowledge of animal behavior, habitat needs, and human-wildlife conflict resolution across various industries, conduct thorough site inspections to detect attractants, assess hazard levels, educate staff on safety protocols, monitor nearby animal activity, and install deterrents for safer operations.

3
Training & Certs.
Many safety programs mandate that employees gain a solid understanding of wildlife identification, typical behaviors, effective response strategies for potential human-wildlife interactions, and proactive measures to avoid them altogether.
Our On-Site monitors all have specialized training that build essential awareness, deliver hands-on practice with key safety equipment, and outline clear steps for handling real-world encounters.
These courses include formal certification, which meets requirements for certain sites and operations.

In Bear country, we prioritize thoughtful navigation to ensure safety for humans and animals alike, fostering a harmonious balance where both can thrive without conflict.

H2S ALIVE This course shows workers how to work safely in and around hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) environments. H2S is a naturally occurring gas. It is often referred to as sour gas, acid gas, stink damp or sulphurated hydrogen. H2S is colorless, heavier than air in its pure state, and extremely toxic. It can also deaden your sense of smell. In low concentrations, it has a rotten egg smell and causes eye and throat irritation. At higher concentrations, it can cause death. For these reasons, training in how to protect yourself is crucial in any industry where H2S might be encountered. This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to help them identify and detect H2S, mitigate the hazards of working in an H2S environment, and respond to an incident involving an H2S release. It includes both theory and practical application exercises.
